WHY DID WE DO THIS?
Baseball games don't happen in a vacuum. However, traditional
scorebooks act as if you have nothing else to do but stare at the field
for three hours. Sure, we can all veg for a while -- even for a whole
game -- but the vast majority of women sitting in ballparks still are
mentally planning tomorrow's work presentation, arranging the family
social calendar or wondering how to keep Little Suzy's science project
from imploding.
As much as you'd like to momentarily forget that you have a life
outside of the baseball stadium, our scoring journal doesn't forget. It
makes scoring a game social. Fun. Accessible.
We talk to so many people that want to learn the "mystery" of scoring
a game. So, we came up with our brand of instructions and scoring
notations -- all with the caveat that you create the scorecard you want.
Create symbols that make sense to you. Put your headphones on and score
every ball and strike. Score only the home team. Record when the beer
vendor pops by. You choose. Remember, scorecards that are missing a
bunch of game day statistics still tell a story.
Along with scoring game day data, our book offers space to
record the life that is going on around you. You can do this by writing
or doodling on the blank pages provided and by answering our prompt questions such as
"What are the week's biggest news stories?" or "Why did
I wear these stupid shoes?" Scoring the game is
already enjoyable for many (including Deidre) but our book offers an easy way to combine life AND baseball.
It makes for a fine way to to remember your day -- and, ultimately, your season -- at the park.
