Definitely not Famous but Still Qualified to Write This Book
Sure, we really like baseball but there are other reasons why we think we can do this. A struggling pianist by day, Deidre is a freelance writer that has written for Seattle area newspapers including the Seattle Times, Seattle Post-Intelligencer and Puget Sound Business Journal for several years. Often focusing on business and the arts, she also covered the WTO (”The Battle in Seattle”) and was a Washington state capitol correspondent for the Spokane Spokesman Review during the 1999 legislative session. She earned degrees from both the University of Maryland (Go Terps!) and the University of Washington. Jackie graduated from the University of Michigan and began her career in Michigan. She worked in marketing and advertising for twelve years in Michigan, Minneapolis and Seattle, most recently in the Creative Services department at retailer Eddie Bauer where she held positions as Packaging Manager, International Account Manager and Production Director. While at Eddie Bauer, she earned her Masters in Not-for-Profit Leadership from Seattle University. Jackie was the Director of Youth Employment Programs at the YMCA of Greater Seattle until 2005, when she left to focus her time on caring for her father and working on the book project.. At the YMCA, Jackie wrote dozens of grant proposals and made numerous in-person pitches for funding and PR. She also consulted for small non-profits on marketing, strategic planning and board development.
